First Treatment: What to Expect
When you arrive for your first appointment, you will complete a comprehensive intake form. The intake form asks questions about your current state of health, past illnesses, and family history. Although your current symptoms may not seem related to past health issues and other bodily functions, our bodies are complex landscapes and everything that happens to us gets stored and processed in our bodies in some capacity. This is what makes us unique individuals. It is all connected.
Holistic medicine takes into account the whole person from head to toe and does not isolate any one symptom. The workings of the body, mind, and spirit together are what make up the whole individual. When taking a holistic approach, we look at the big picture and consider all symptoms and manifestations to be significant in determining the underlying patterns of imbalance and the cause of dis-ease.
After reviewing your intake form and discussing your present condition and future goals, I will examine your pulse, tongue, and abdomen, which are three of the basic diagnostic tools of TCM. We will then discuss a treatment plan for you and treatment will begin. The points/meridians/adjunctive techniques/herbs that I choose will depend on your unique individual constitution and root imbalance. Because we have a lot of information to go over when we first meet, the initial consultation and treatment is a bit longer than follow ups. We will always do a quick check in with how you are feeling and all that is going on for you the day you walk through our doors before treatment.
