Herbal / Food Medicine

What we feed ourselves and put into and onto our body matters. The nourishment we absorb from herbs and food is essential for vitality and provides the raw material for us to function in a happy, harmonious way.  It is what powers metabolism and energy production. It is what allows us to maintain life itself - thinking, moving, breathing, digesting, processing, tissue repair, modulating immune responses, etc. are all fueled by what we take in.

Food and herbs have been used as medicine for millennia. The practice of herbalism uses fresh, dried, or extracts of plants to regulate imbalances and heal from the inside out and can be used alone or as an adjunct to other treatments.

Herbs are taken internally or externally - either via mouth by eating or drinking them, often  in the form of a capsule, tablet, tincture, or tea

and/or they are applied to the skin, usually as a  salve, plaster, liniment, or essential oil.

When recommending herbs and/or food for someone, we do a thorough intake and deeply consider one's goals, health history, current symptoms, overall state of health, pulse and tongue presentation, constitution, meds/supplements, size, age, and lifestyle.

We concept of the body as an ecosystem and use herbs to harmonize where there is imbalance. Are we too dry/damp, hot/cold, excess/deficient? This guides how we implement food and herbal medicine for each person's unique terrain.
